#ServeJoshua is April 25
Outreach is part of our DNA and crucial to our mission
to love God, grow in grace, and serve others.
The goal for #ServeJoshua is to connect the needs of people
in our community to the abilities of people who are ready
to serve. We’re never more like Christ than when we serve
others and you’re invited April 25 to serve your neighbors!!
Nursery opens and check-in begins at 8am inside the gym at FUMC Joshua (114 Paula Drive). Individuals who pre-registered will meet their project team before departing as a group to their assigned site. Walk-ins will be placed on a project team as needed. Please wear long pants, closed-toe shoes or boots, and bring a pair of work gloves. Mowing equipment and other lawn tools are helpful and greatly appreciated.
WHAT IS #SERVEJOSHUA?
#ServeJoshua is a collaboration between FUMC Joshua and The City of Joshua. Our staff and laity work closely with the Code Compliance Office and City Manager to identify single parents, military and veteran families, and the elderly who need assistance with small home improvement projects or property clean-up. Some #ServeJoshua teams will pick up trash and debris along area roadways. All #ServeJoshua projects will be completed Saturday, April 25 between 9am and 3pm.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
Anyone can be part of #ServeJoshua!! Families are encouraged to serve together and groups are welcome too. Every student (6-17) and adult (18+) must register individually.
WHAT SUPPLIES DO I NEED TO BRING? WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Long pants and closed-toe shoes are required. If you’re picking up trash or debris along roadways, gloves must be worn at all times. Yard equipment like mowers, weedeaters, hedge trimmers, shovels, and rakes are helpful too.
I KNOW SOMEONE WHO NEEDS A HELPING HAND.
Awesome!! Complete a NOMINATION FORM for your friend or neighbor. The more details you provide, the better our team can access the scope of work. Keep in mind that time and resources (money and people!!) are limited. Home remodeling, roof installations, and major renovations cannot be considered for #ServeJoshua projects.
MAY CHILDREN PARTICIPATE?
Absolutely!! Preschool-aged children (5 and under) are welcome at #ServeJoshua. We love seeing young disciples serve in God’s Kingdom!! On April 25th, our professionally trained caregivers will stay on campus with your children to play interactive games and share Bible stories about serving others. Before lunch, they’ll go outdoors for a Litterbug Scavanger Hunt. If time permits, special crafts will be made for residents in local nursing homes.
Students (6-17) may work on a project site but they must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
PARENTS, please bring a lunch for your child, along with their favorite pillow, blanket, and a change of clothes. Bottles, formulas, diapers, wipes, and other necessities must be provided for infants and toddlers.
